40 x 50 cm Print on heavy archival art paper, signed & numbered edition.”Rebirth” is a sugar sculpture from 2013. This actual skull was borrowed from the Berlin Opera props department and moulded for the sugar sculpture titled “Rebirth” which is instead of a reminder of death, a chance to start again.
Conceptually these works come from the Buddhist principle of attachment. Our thoughts attach us to things in this world and we suffer through this process. Sugar as a metaphor works because of its attractive look drawing you in, its sticky nature and pure form of energy. I made these works for people to see themselves and others in a state of objectification through their own desires.
