Artist Monograph Book – Distanz Publishers

ART BOOK – Joseph Marr

This book is about the last 15 years of my work, with over 100 colour images. Included is an in depth look into the 9 meter long 300 kg sugar sculpture I made for the Techno Club Berghain. This sculpture is a love story starting in lust and ending in bliss of togetherness.

Along with the sugar works are also my latest portrait series entitled “I am therefore I think” which is a collaborative series exploring the notion of a deeper self through interviews with many different kinds of people.

Portrait Sculpture – Joy

Series – “I am, therefore I think”

“What I enjoy about doing portraits is that I never know what to expect in the interview with people. They may share experiences that I have never had before, and it’s always intriguing to see how they express themselves. Translating their experiences into an object is something that I love because it brings mystery and depth to the material.
It’s fascinating to see how the material communicates and interacts with the space it’s in.”
